"Andre, it's good to see you again," said Maurice. He shook his friends hand and invited him to take a seat. "Can I get you something to drink?"

Captain Hunt looked at the changes in the massive office. Clearly Maurice had collected quite a few things since the last time he was here. "Sweet tea would be good. I know you have always had that within arm's reach."

Bell laughed as he grabbed a pitcher and two glasses. "You know me all too well." Handing Andre a glass, he sat down across from here. "I know that your eager to see Tyler, so I'll get to the point. Starfleet Command has been very impressed on how you have handled command over the past year. Klingons, pirates and even a mission of diplomacy."

Andre sipped his drink and raised an eyebrow. He knew that something big was about to come out of his mouth. The question was this good or bad big thing. "So, what does Starfleet Command want me to do?"

"We need you to take the Trill that you rescued back to their homeworld," the Director announced. "The leader of the group has spoken highly of you. And she wants to work with you in forming better relations between Trill and the Federation."

"Alright that isn't so bad."

"There is more Andre. Starfleet Command wants you to take the Meridian on a two-year assignment. The Meridian will lead the second tactical wing in a mission of exploration in that sector. "

"A two-year mission," Andre spoke as he nearly choked on his drink. "That is quite a bit of time away from home."

"I am well aware of that," Maurice sighed. "But with all the fighting going on in recent years. People are wondering if the Federation will eventually end up like the Klingon Empire. We seem to have gotten away from exploration, so Starfleet wants to get back to it as soon as possible. And you get the pleasure of leading the charge my friend."

"Damn man," Hunt replied as he stood from his seat. "I spend enough time away from Earth as it is. Of course, it is one hell of an opportunity. One that any Captain would be a fool to pass up on."

Maurice smiled up at the other Captain. "This is what you have always wanted. Just imagine all the doors that would open up to you upon your return from this assignment."

"When would the Meridian be required to launch for this grand mission?"

"The Meridian will need to be ready to ship out in six weeks," Bell answered. "Your crew can relax and enjoy their time off. Everything in regard to preparation will be taken of."

"Any particular for the entire tactical wing to come along?"

"Starfleet has concerns about sending out ships alone so far out that it takes reinforcements weeks to assist if something were to go wrong," the Director explain. "In this case every ship going out with you will be no more than a few days to week at high warp from each other."

"Sounds like Starfleet is learning the mistakes of the past," Captain Hunt acknowledged.

"Well Dre, we're doing more than just sitting on our asses around here," Maurice laughed. "It hasn't been easy, but the Andorians and Tellarites most of all has really been wanting to place a lot of effort in defense."

Hunt nodded in response. "I want to make this assignment an optional one for the crew," Andre requested. "Two years is a long time. Plus I am sure that there are personnel out there who would be eager to take an available spot on the Meridian for this mission."

"Whatever you need to Dre. Come on, I'll walk you out of here."
