Mission:
Trillius Prime
Location: Conference Room
Andre Hunt had stepped off the bridge asking his First Officer Thomas Carey and their guest scientist Trumer to join him in his conference room. They docked with the Trill transport and now they were waiting on that ships Captain Ormoro to be escorted to the conference room. A few minutes later, the door opened as security walked in with the transport Captain. "Thank you. Wait outside please," Hunt instructed.
Captain Min Ormoro looked at both Humans, then at the Trill male in the room who didn't recognize. "Captain Hunt, I appreciate the rescue, the medical attention and the assistance with repairs. Not really too familiar with the Federation outside of rumors and I certainly didn't know you had Trill serving on board."
The Captain simply smiled. "Perhaps one day, but at this time we don't have Trill serving on board. This is one of your scientist Colrez Trumer. We were transporting him and a few other scientist back to Trillius Prime. The man over here is Commander Thomas Carey. My First Officer and Armory Officer."
Nodding at the fellow Trill as everything was all starting to make sense, he then turned his attention to Carey. "Its a pleasure to meet you Commander Carey."
"Pleasure is all mine." Thomas replied as he gave a nod, "If there is anything required, just give me a list."
"How long have these L'Dira been a problem?" Hunt questioned.
"The original showed up years ago and we had an incident based on a misunderstanding," Ormoro answered. Within the past year, they've returned in higher numbers. And the attacks of transports ship have increased over the past two years with these pirates."
Andre thought about what they have been told about the L'Dira. He found it hard to believe that an entire group consisted of pirates. Any particular reason they keep targeting you all."
Trumer stepped forward. "These pirates steal Acelon from our transports. Not exactly sure why but its very valuable to us and they attack us on our way to distribute this resource to our colonies."
"Have you escorted those transports... escorts usually deter piracy."
"Most of these transports are privately own," Oromoro answered. "These companies tends to cut corners. But the way these attacks are increasing, owners are going to have to factor those losses compared to hiring security escorts. The government prefers to keep our security ships closer to home. So that isn't much of an option."
"Have you considered just taking it up the government of these pirates?" the Captain inquired.
The transport Captain burst out laughing. "The government condones the actions, because they purchase the stolen goods. It all works in their favor, which they pretend to have clean hands."
"Then negotiations are meaningless. Unless we can offer something. Is there a way to... trade with them. You trade them Acelon and they give you something you need."
"I am simply a Captain running freight. Don't have a clue regarding anything they have which we would need. Negotiations are for government and diplomats."
Captain Hunt was clearly as frustrated as his first officer. "Clearly other than being a victim of these attacks you have no solution. If you don't mind sending over all the sensor data before, during and after the attack?"
The Scientist was clearly confused by the request the Starfleet Captain was making from the freighter Captain. "Captain what do you have in mind?"
"If the Federation is to have dealings with Trillus Prime, then we need to be up to date on what's happening in this region," Andre explained. "Trumer your government and fill them in on what has taken place here. If there's nothing else, I will let you return back to your ship Captain."
"Once again, thanks for the assistance." He then turned and exited the room with the scientist following right behind. The two security officer's by the door, proceeded to escort the individuals.
Looking out the window, Hunt sighed. "What do you think Thomas?"
"I think he knows a lot more than hes letting on, whether it be unknowingly to him or knowingly. I don't like going in blind. But without any more useful information, we might as well be."
"These Trill all seem to be very secretive towards outsiders," Andre brought up. "It took a minute for the scientist we rescued to give us any real details about their people. The Vulcans say that their very cautious, so that might just be it. The L'Dira are aggressive, and the Trill are passive. I can see the Trill refusing to even meet with these people."
"Then they shouldn't ask for help if they are unable to give us any information."
Slighting shrugging. "They gave us information about the L'Dira, not much about themselves. Assuming that you're along the lines of leaving and letting the Trill deal with their own mess?"
"Never said that. But we need to find more information."
"These lower-level individuals won't tell us much," Hunt mentioned. "But the government officials might be more inclined to have a conversation. Going to make some calls to Starfleet Headquarters. See if they can get some answers. At the moment, our mission remains the same."
